The tour starts in Ulvik harbor, where you will be equipped with thermo-flotation suits and life jackets. Before departure, the boat driver will give a short safety briefing and introduce the route for the trip.
As we head out onto the fjord, we will make several stops along the way without leaving the boat. During these stops the guide will tell you about the nature, wildlife and history of the area, so you may want to keep your camera ready.
Depending on the season and conditions, we may see seals resting along the shoreline or swimming in the fjord, and the area is also home to a rich birdlife, especially seabirds that follow the currents along the fjord.
One of the highlights of the trip is the journey through the dramatic fjord landscape with its steep mountainsides and waterfalls. On rainy days some waterfalls grow powerful enough that they appear to fall almost directly onto the boat.
During the tour we will also stop to view Hardanger Bridge, one of the longest suspension bridges in the world. From the sea you get a unique perspective of the bridge, and the guide will share stories about its construction, scale and importance for the region.
