Discover the intriguing history of Florianopolis and how the city has gained international acclaim through its charming blend of historical sites and cosmopolitan culture. After a 1 ½ hour drive from the pier, disembark the bus for an approximate 30-minute walking tour. Stops will be made at the Metropolitan Cathedral (located in front of 15th of November Square), the Municipal Market (the site where historically all trades between villagers and travelers to occurred in the 17th & 18th Centuries - the site currently a fish market), and the old Customs House (now a local handicraft gallery, located next to the Municipal Market). 20 minute stop at the Customs House. Visit the Governor’s Palace, which houses the Historic Museum. Board the bus once again for a drive to view the 18th Century Hercilio Luz Bridge. Since restoration in 1982, the bridge is open only for light traffic.
Return to the ship.
Please note: This tour includes limited walking, mainly at the guests’ discretion during any stops but does require guests to potentially be able to do strenuous activity. Light-weight clothing; sun cap; sunglasses; and flat, comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
