Your adventure begins with a shuttle from the pier, accompanied by members of the Expedition Team. At Gypsy Cove, you’ll find remnants of Falklands history, including World War II coastal defense guns, overlooking the bay—a striking contrast to the serene beauty of the beach below.
For those seeking a more active experience, inform the expedition team onboard that you want to do the full hike from Stanley to Gypsy Cove. This scenic trail is approximately 5 kilometers (3 miles) one way, and offers sweeping views of the rugged coastline. Along the route, keep an eye out for Magellanic penguins, upland geese, and other seabirds that frequent the area. While wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, the Falklands are home to an incredible diversity of species, and you may also spot native plants and hear the calls of songbirds as you walk.

Please be sure to book your included experience in advance as space may be limited on your specific choice. The hike is approximately 5 km (3 miles) one way, with anticipated minimal incline (approx. 74 meters). Expect uneven terrain that may be muddy, rocky, and occasionally boggy. Sturdy footwear and layered clothing are recommended. The duration is 2.5–3 hours depending on whether you choose to go on the hike or just take the shuttle. Wildlife sightings are common but not guaranteed. Space is limited—please book your preferred option in advance.
