Often called the Venice of Brazil because of its numerous canals and waterways, Recife is a major gateway on the northeastern coast and the capital of the state of Pernambuco. This lively city is famous for its beaches, food and Afro-Brazilian culture, and is full of diversions for residents and visitors alike.
Board a motorized catamaran and cruise the Capibaribe River.
Once you are in the Recife Antigo (Old Town) area, keep an eye out for the beautiful colonial buildings in the city which date back to the 19th century.
Returning to the pier, visit Casa da Cultura - a former prison converted into a handicrafts market. You will have time to stroll the market featuring local gifts and souvenirs.
Please note:
Surfaces are mostly paved. Participants must be able to get into and out of the catamaran. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. Your guide will do his/her best to speak English, but please keep in mind that the limited tourism infrastructure of Recife is part of the city's charm, and bear with any language difficulties (s)he may encounter.
