This guided City Walk begins at the harbor, where you’ll meet your local guide before taking a short 5-minute bus ride into the town center. Your first stop is Katuaq Cultural Center—Nuuk’s iconic architectural landmark and the heart of contemporary Greenlandic culture. During summer, local artists often showcase their work here, offering a glimpse into modern Greenlandic creativity.
From Katuaq, the tour continues past the Greenlandic Parliament, an important symbol of the nation’s self-rule and modern governance.
Next, you’ll make your way to the Colonial Harbor, where brightly painted wooden buildings stand much as they did 200–300 years ago. As you explore this historic area, your guide will share stories of the past, including the old whale-blubber processing equipment, Hans Egede’s former residence, the Mother of the Sea statue in the tidal zone, and the monument to Hans Egede beside the old church.
The final stop is the Greenland National Museum, where your entrance is included for a self-guided visit. The museum is home to remarkable artifacts representing every era and culture in Greenland’s history—including the famously well-preserved Inuit mummies. It’s an essential experience for anyone wishing to understand the depth and diversity of Greenlandic heritage.
After your free-flow visit, make your way back to the town center—your guide will have shown you where to go before you enter the museum. Enjoy the inviting cafés and souvenir shops. You’re also welcome to visit the Art Museum afterward—your entry ticket is included. When you’re ready, walk on your own to the shuttle stop for your return transfer to the ship.
