Come ashore at Grimsey and set out from the sheltered boat harbor on foot. A small, local bus is also available.
Walk or ride with the Expedition team to the Arctic Circle monument and beyond that to the rocky cliffs teeming with screeching seabirds. There may be no better location from which to observe and photograph Atlantic puffins as they bring sand lance (a small fish) back to their burrows to feed their young. Feisty Arctic terns nest in the rain-fed grasses, greeting you with click-and-squawk indignation, and phalaropes relentlessly preen and peck along the shores of the small lake.
