Gain a unique insight into one of the Arctic's most iconic animals during a visit to a traditional Greenland sled dog kennel. Travel by bus to Sisimiut's dog town, where local hosts share the story of the Kalaallit Qimmiat, Greenland's ancient sled dog breed, and its enduring role in Arctic life. Learn about their training, care, equipment, and working traditions before spending time among the dogs themselves. Under the guidance of experienced handlers, guests can safely interact with and pet the dogs while gaining a deeper appreciation for the culture and heritage they represent. This meaningful experience also introduces the Greenland Dog Preservation Programme, which helps protect the future of this remarkable breed.
Please Note: This is a summer experience and does not include dog sledding. Guests must follow all instructions from the hosts when interacting with the dogs. Puppies may be present depending on the season. The kennel is situated on bumpy ground, grass, gravel roads and paths. This tour cannot accommodate wheelchairs and is not recommended for guests with limited mobility. Sturdy closed-toe footwear and weather-appropriate clothing are required. Guests with dog allergies should not participate. A portion of each ticket directly supports the Greenland Dog Preservation Programme.
