Head out on a thrilling journey as we navigate the vast expanse of Ikerssuaq Fjord, weaving through drifting icebergs to reach the awe-inspiring Twin Glacier, a local gem. Here, you have the unique opportunity to step ashore and physically connect with the ice cap, an experience like no other. This remarkable site also serves as a living testament to the Earth's transformations; on exposed rocks, you can witness the unmistakable signs of glacier retreat over recent decades. In the 1980s, the Twin Glacier actively calved ice into the fjord, yet today, the ice separates on land, unveiling a compelling story of nature's evolution. Amidst this striking landscape, you'll find yourself dwarfed by the colossal ice mass, evoking a profound sense of wonder and humility.
Please note: It is a 1 ½ hour long voyage each way to the landing site. The hike to the glacier and back is now just under a ½ mile each way – around a hour of walking. The tour is lead by your local speedboat captain (there is not an additional local guide). An expedition team member will accompany. It is essential that you wear warm, layered clothing in order to fully enjoy this excursion. Outer layer should be waterproof and windproof. Bring gloves, a warm hat and a scarf, and good hiking shoes. Mosquito nets may prove beneficial depending on the season. Arriving at the glacier front the side will be a little steep, rocky and sandy. If it's been raining then watch out for slippery rocks!
