Here's an exclusive departure for Seabourn guests, taking in the panorama of sea and sky as your skipper steers a course around the beautiful Bay of Islands. You'll travel aboard a beautiful catamaran equipped with viewing decks and a restroom.
You're headed to the waters surrounding the Cape Brett Peninsula, and from the catamaran's comfortable indoor and outdoor viewing decks, you'll be able to see the 115-year-old Cape Brett Lighthouse.
You'll maneuver close to the famous Cathedral Caves, created by wave erosion over 160 million years. Circling Piercy Island, weather permitting, you'll pass through the iconic Hole in the Rock — perhaps one of the most naturally beautiful sights in all of New Zealand — whose 229-foot-long tunnel was gouged over centuries by wind and wave action. Take a moment to enjoy the views from the deck and peer over the side of the catamaran to spot schools of fish, such as blue mao mao, kahawai, parore, trevally, tuna, kingfish, and, occasionally, sunfish.
Bottlenose and common dolphins are the most frequently encountered marine mammals in the Bay of Islands as the catamaran plies the turquoise waters.
Please note:
Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed. Cruising to and through the Hole in the Rock is dependent on sea and weather conditions; an inner-island cruise will be substituted in inclement weather. Morning departures return to Paihia Wharf; a five-minute shuttle ride (included) will return you to the tender pier. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable/reef-safe sunscreen. Bring bottled water.
