A 90-minute coach transfer to the small settlement of Kaiteriteri showcases the Tasman region's panoramic farmland and coastal vistas. Watch for the famous orchards, hops farms, and vineyards of the Tasman region.
Upon arrival in Kaiteriteri, take note of the absolutely magical golden sands for which the wider Golden Bay region is named. Board the comfortable Seashuttle catamaran, with a hydraulic extending gangway that allows (dis)embark the boat without getting your feet wet. Get settled on deck and voyage into the pristine maritime parkland of emerald water, golden sands and verdant native bush.
At Awaroa Beach, step ashore and follow your guide on a short trek to discover the secret paradise of Awaroa Lodge, nestled among regenerating native forest. An elegant alfresco lunch is served in the funky outdoor courtyard (indoors during inclement weather).
Afterward, take a walk along Awaroa Beach, recently purchased by the people of New Zealand through a crowd-funding effort and proudly promoted as the best beach on the planet. What do you think? Feel free to swim or just enjoy the scenery before the relaxing return catamaran voyage back to Nelson.
Please note:
Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen, light clothing to act as a full cover-up for further protection from the sun, and a hat. Swim at your own risk. Bring insect repellent as there may be sandflies present; their bite is harmless but very itchy. Bring a jacket as it can be cooler on the water.
