Upon arriving in the quaint township of Taranna, head to the renowned Tasmanian Devil Conservation Park, which opened in 1978 to become the world's first Tasmanian devil center. Here, observe these unique black-and-white marsupials as they snarf, snarl and eat, which entails aggressively growling, crushing up bones and tearing meat, mostly carrion, to shreds. Thanks to a large head and neck, the Tasmanian devil is able to generate the strongest bite per unit of body mass of any living mammal, an impressive attribute. In addition to viewing devils in action, wander amongst kangaroos and wallabies in a large enclosure, observe quolls, golden possums, eagles, hawks and falcons and have fun hand-feeding friendly kangaroos. Come face to face with a Potoroo, a kangaroo-rat-like creature the size of a rabbit. Before leaving, scour the enticing gift shop for locally made mementos, including a wide range of flavorful wines
En route back to the pier you will enjoy a stop at a local chocolate shop -- The Chocolate Foundry -- where you may wish to purchase some confectionary and undertake your own quality-control initiative.
