Herschel Island is an uninhabited scrap of land in the far north of Canada's Yukon Territory. For generations, the Thule people made their home here in the Inuvialuit region. They thrived in communities across the Arctic and were the ancestors of today's Indigenous communities. At the turn of the 20th century, Herschel Island was a bowhead whaling base.
Now a haven for all kinds of wildlife, Herschel is an incredible place to visit, with the Expedition team expertly locating and interpreting marine and land mammals and a variety of bird life. It is a vibrant and special place in a fragile part of the Arctic — a rare and privileged place to set foot.
Please note: Included Expeditions cannot be booked in advance. The ship's Expeditions team will communicate finalized content and departure information. Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer; bring a warm hat, gloves and a scarf. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed.
