Travel east to the glitz and glamour of South Beach and its charming Art Deco district. A brief stroll along Ocean Avenue is a good introduction to its hustle and bustle.
Heading back across the causeway and into the heart of downtown Miami, note the towering skyscrapers of the Financial District along Brickell Avenue en route to Coconut Grove.
You will visit the European-inspired Vizcaya Museum & Gardens — the winter home of industrial executive James Deering from 1916 to 1925. Today, the facility is a magnificent museum and a designated National Historic Landmark. Enjoy a 45-minute self-guided walking tour through the first floor of this palatial attraction. It boasts 34 beautifully appointed rooms on two floors, featuring 15th- through 19th-century antique art objects and furnishings.
Outside, stroll about the expansive gardens, which combine elements of Renaissance, Italian and French design. The Villa was built between 1914 and 1916 by a thousand laborers, including the finest European artists and artisans.
Please note: Tour does not operate on Tuesdays. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable/reef-safe sunscreen. Bring bottled water.
