An informative stroll through Marigot, led by a friendly guide, acquaints you with the fusion culture of this fascinating location.
Walk to Fort Louis Hill and climb a set of steps to reach the fort, perfectly situated with a lookout over magnificent vistas. Learn how the fort protected France's treasure from wannabe invaders and about the famous Concordia Treaty, which brought lasting peace between the French and Dutch sides of the island. Marvel at the dazzling turquoise waters of the bay below and the beautiful town of Marigot. You can also spot the Lagoon, Simpson Bay, and even the British island of Anguilla. This is a wonderful photo opportunity.
Head back downhill and into the streets of Old Marigot, where traditional colonial architecture remains dominant.
En route to the Galisbay waterfront, you will pass many typical boutiques and cafés. Watch for the old prison, the original lighthouse, and the Fort Louis Marina.
The bustling Marigot marketplace gives you license to exercise your taste buds. Chez Fernand La French Bakery specializes in exquisite delicacies from France. Try their locally-baked pastries, as well as specialty coffees and teas.
In the heart of the marketplace, enjoy a delicious rum tasting with a local vendor.
