Natural wonders, musical legacies, and culinary delights combine to create a brilliant and colorful day out.
You will begin your excursion with a drive to the Montserrat Volcano Observatory -- the institution tasked with monitoring Soufriere's volcanic activity 24 hours a day. View a short documentary film on the volcano and its eruptions to gain an understanding of the monitoring activity.
Why is Olveston House commonly referred to as the home of the "First Beatle?" Because its owner, Sir George Martin, created a legacy of modern pop music here, using the house as the location of his Air Studios recording studio. Step inside this iconic residence, where many of the legendary rock stars who recorded at Air Studios stayed while on the island. Hear the almost unbelievable story of how Sir George Martin, through true genius, used tiny Montserrat and his state-of-the-art recording studio at Air Studios to facilitate the recording of some of the biggest pop music hits in history. Authentic Platinum, Gold, and Silver records adorn the walls -- a testament to the incredible talent that once graced this hallowed space -- Jimmy Buffet, Paul McCartney, Earth, Wind & Fire, Sting and The Police, Elton John, Dire Straits, Stevie Wonder, and the list goes on.
Savor a culinary feast curated by a chef who has worked for Gordon Ramsay and Michelin-starred chefs. This tantalizing three-course meal is a fusion of flavors that perfectly complements this historic setting.
From an elevated lookout point, marvel at dramatic views of the Soufriere Hills volcano and panoramic vistas of the pyroclastic flows and remnants of the former capital city -- Plymouth. The barren landscape left behind by the deep accumulation of volcanic ash and volcanic gases includes rocks the size of homes ejected from the volcano, which landed thousands of feet away. Listen to survival stories from your knowledgeable guide.
In Plymouth, the Buried City, explore and learn about the resilience that defines Montserrat before you return to the ship.
