Meet your guide at the pier, where you'll gear up with a bicycle and helmet.
Set out on a coastal bike trail that follows the right-of-way of the now-defunct Parenzana narrow-gauge railroad, which once ran from Trieste to Porec. For 34 years, the Parenzana Railroad served as the primary transportation link between Istria and Central Europe. Now, about a hundred years after the Parenzana steam engine first puffed along the tracks, its route has become a path for hikers, cyclists and runners.
The 90-minute scenic route will take you through old villages to the seaside, past salt fields, and through vineyards and olive groves before ending in the town of Portoroz. Here, you will enjoy a light snack and have some free time to stretch your legs before transferring back to the pier.
Please note: Wear sports clothing and closed-toe shoes. Bring a backpack to stow any layers you shed. Maximum weight is 220 lbs. Minimum height is 5 feet.
