Experience the authentic flavors and culinary heritage of Mount Pelion on a delightful journey into one of Greece's most scenic mountain regions. Departing from Volos, travel through the verdant slopes of Pelion, passing traditional villages and breathtaking landscapes as you ascend toward the charming village of Portaria.
Nestled among chestnut trees and stone-built homes, Portaria provides the perfect setting to discover the region's treasured culinary traditions. Upon arrival, join an expert local chef for a fascinating cooking demonstration that showcases the artistry and techniques passed down through generations of Greek home cooks. Learn the secrets behind creating traditional Pelion specialties, including the meticulous preparation of handmade phyllo dough.
Watch as delicate sheets of dough are stretched, layered, and transformed using time-honored methods before being filled with fresh seasonal ingredients sourced locally and baked in a traditional wood-fired oven. Throughout the demonstration, your host will share insights into regional ingredients, family recipes, and the culinary customs that have shaped life in the Pelion Mountains for centuries.
Following the presentation, savor the flavors of the freshly prepared meal and enjoy the warm hospitality for which Greece is renowned. The menu varies seasonally, allowing guests to experience the freshest ingredients available from local farms and producers.
