Deep in Rold Forest lies Regan Vest — the best-preserved Cold War bunker in Denmark. The purpose of the bunker was to house the government and the monarch in the event of a third World War. For years, the facility was a well-kept secret; now, finally, its doors are open, offering insight into a not-so-distant past.
In 2014, the Danish Agency for Culture listed Regan Vest as a piece of untouched Danish cultural heritage. It is built into a chalk hill, approximately 60 meters underground. The facility consists of four vertical concrete rings, with everything that is needed to keep everyday life running — a kitchen, storage room, medical clinic, engine room, etc. The museum here consists of these elements and offers future generations a tangible glimpse of the intangible concept of the Cold War.
Step into the learning center and explore the detached house in front of the bunker, where the facility's superintendent lived. Its 1980s furniture offers a sense of life back then.
Please note: Minimum age is 10 years. Wear comfortable walking shoes.
