This delightful walking tour will take you to some of the newest and oldest buildings of Århus.
Head towards DOKK1 — part of the conversion of Århus' inner harbor from industrial harbor to city space. DOKK1 features a library, a citizens' service, a media library, a café, a spectacular playground, and conference facilities. Join your guide for an inside visit and see the famous magic mushroom beneath the building.
Continue to the inner city and pass the main cathedral en route through the Latin Quarter. On the oldest street in Århus, Møllestien, you will find idyllic old houses adorned with flowers, and you'll sense that time has stood still on this special street.
Your next destination is the Museum of Modern Art, or ARoS. Head to the top of the building with your guide to stroll the Rainbow Walk — a landmark for Århus. After an introduction to the newest exhibitions, enjoy some free time to explore the museum independently.
The Town Hall of Århus, designed by renowned Danish architect Arne Jacobsen, is clad in Norwegian marble and provides a good impression of Danish architecture and design. Your guide will share stories about the life of Arne Jacobsen, whose furniture is quite famous. You will have time to step inside for photos.
From the Town Hall, follow the stream via Søndergade and back to the pier.
Please note: The Town Hall may close at short notice for events or on weekends. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Terrain includes cobblestones and other uneven surfaces. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Minimum age is 10 years.
