Journey into the center of Glasgow, Scotland's largest city. Glasgow's skyline is a kaleidoscope of architectural gems, encompassing a magnificent 12th-century cathedral, a stunning Victorian cityscape, and revolutionary Art Nouveau. Against this backdrop, the famed art galleries and museums of Glasgow have ensured that its cultural heritage stands alongside that of other major European cities.
From the comfort of your coach, a panoramic sightseeing tour introduces you to some of the major attractions and principal buildings, with your knowledgeable guide enlightening you with important information about the city and its rich history. Pass George Square, Glasgow's oldest public square and heart of the city, with its gaggle of stately statues.
Watch for Cathedral Square and Glasgow Cathedral (1136) — the finest medieval relic in Glasgow. It is the only cathedral in mainland Scotland to have survived the Reformation virtually intact.
Continue to Kelvingrove for a visit to the Art Gallery & Museum — one of Glasgow's landmark buildings. The ever-changing contemporary exhibitions compete for your attention with the dinosaurs, suits of armor, gruesome weaponry, and treasures from around the world. Kelvingrove also houses a superb collection of paintings by Botticelli, Rembrandt, Monet, Van Gogh and Picasso. Independently explore the many galleries and exhibits.
Glasgow also boasts fine University buildings set on a hillside above the River Kelvin. Take photos of the Gothic buildings of the second-oldest university in Scotland, founded in 1451.
Please note: Tour sequence may vary. Your time at Kelvingrove is self-guided. Tour requires about one hour of walking.
