Set among high mountains in the beautiful Tamok Valley, you will experience the life of the Sami people through storytelling, help feed the reindeer and sledding in the pristine winter countryside.
Situated between mountains and valleys stretching eastwards from the fjords and into northern Finland, this camp allows you to truly appreciate the Arctic landscape. Upon arrival at Camp Tamok, you will be greeted by your hosts and dressed in thermal winter gear before you head off to explore the ancient part of the Sami culture and try the oldest form of transport in the north, Reindeer sledding. Enjoy magnificent views of the snowcapped mountains and the vast wilderness on this truly unique adventure.
Back at camp, help feed the reindeer, learn about reindeer herding and techniques for lasso throwing. Your Sami host will share stories about their life, history, culture and traditions while you enjoy a hot meal around an open fire in a reindeer herder’s tent. During this memorable encounter with the indigenous Sami people, you will gain insight into their unique and fascinating way of life.
Please note: It is recommended to dress in warm, layered clothing, wear winter boots, a hat and gloves. Equipment provided at Camp Tamok includes a thermal suit and boots for the Reindeer ride.
