Enjoy amazing access to the Jaguar Rescue Center Foundation, located in the town of Puerto Viejo. Touted as the number one attraction in Costa Rica's south Caribbean, this was the location where the famed promotional video Save the Americans was filmed for Costa Rica's Tourism Board. Never before have guests arriving by cruise ship had an all-access pass to the most astonishing fauna conservation effort in the country, along with the chance to interact firsthand with some stunning wildlife -- toucans, hawks, monkeys, sloths, tamanduas, anteaters, deer and parrots. These are just a few of the animals you may encounter in this magical location. The foundation works endlessly to restore all of its animal guests to good health so they can later be released back into the wild.
You will also visit the Puerto Vargas Ranger Station and walk deep into the Costa Rican jungle in a small group with an expert naturalist guide. Explore in-depth the flora and fauna of Cahuita National Park in the most densely biodiverse environment per square mile in the world, on one of the most beautiful nature walks in the country.
Finally, enjoy a typical Costa Rican lunch in the middle of this pristine refuge. The tour is operated in small groups.
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed.
