Transfer by Zodiac with the Expedition team to a remote and unusual corner of Scotland's Outer Hebrides, recognized for its prolific birdlife and its long human history. People have lived on St. Kilda for at least 4,000 years, exploiting the dense colonies of gannets, fulmars and puffins for food, feathers and oil. Abandoned stone huts bear silent witness to past settlement, and two ancient sheep species, dating from the Neolithic and Iron Ages, continue to thrive here.
Walk through Am Baile (or “The Town”) on St. Kilda, abandoned in the 1930s. It's a rare privilege and a great opportunity to sense the essence of life in this UNESCO World Heritage Site archipelago.
Please note: Included Expeditions cannot be booked in advance. The ship's Expedition team will communicate finalized content and departure information. Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer; bring a warm hat, gloves and a scarf. Life jackets are provided and must be worn. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed.
