Depart the ship for a 45-min drive to the famous Manjanggul Lava Tube, one of the finest lava tunnels in the world and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located in the proximity of Jeju city, this designated natural monument offers a variety of mysterious structures and interesting geographical features. At up to 23 meters wide, 30 meters high and 8.928 km long, it is the 12th longest lava tube in the world. During approx. 1 hour visit of the cave, discover its origins, and admire the well-preserved variety of rocky formations such as lava stalactites and stalagmites. The numerous faunas living in the cave, such as common bent-wing bats and Jeju cave spiders, are a valuable aspect for research.
Next, arrive at Seongsan Sunrise Peak, the second UNESCO Heritage site included in this tour. The Sunrise Peak originated from under the sea in a volcanic eruption over 100,000 years ago. At the top of Sunrise peak is a crater, approximately 90 meters high and 600 meters in diameter. During approx. 1 hour of light trekking, admire its crater, surrounded by sharp rocks and resembling a gigantic crown.
The tour ends with an approximately 1-hour drive back to the ship.
