Upon arrival on the pier, you will be presented with traditional selendang sashes before setting off to discover the traditions, culture and flavors of Kupang.
Drive to Provincial Museum of Kupang, which offer views of prehistoric artifacts of various tribes, 'ikat' weaving, scale models of traditional houses, carved ancestral figures of wood and stone, and musical instruments that include an excellent Dongson-style drum found on Alor Island.
Next, visit Lasiana Beach, where you will see a demonstration of palm tree climbing and the process of making the local cakes using local red sugar. Enjoy a refreshment of traditional cakes from palm sugar to try accompanied by traditional sasando music as background.
En route back to the pier, stop at local shop to browse for souvenirs.
Please note:
Wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring local currency, as many vendors do not accept credit cards or US dollars. Wear sunglasses and sunscreen. We recommend a hat, sun screen and mosquito repellant.
