Drive from the port to Tongliang Great Banyan at Baisha Township. The Great Banyan is located in front of Bao An Temple, and has lived more than 300 years with dozens of branches and lush foliage forming a natural awning of over 660 sq feet. The tree is being upheld as a spiritual boost for the local villagers and a major landmark in Penghu.
Proceed to Erkan historical village. Having a look at antique red brick tiles and coral stonewalls, makes you feel like taking a ride on a time machine, a trip featuring local customs and nostalgic feelings.
Penghu is known for it’s Columnar Basalt formations. Next we are going to Daguoye Columnar Basalt, the most easily accessible Columar Basalt located on Xiyu, a visually dramatic place, full of steep cliffs, basalt formations, shallow coves and headlands. Daguoye columnar basalt was found during the Japanese occupation. We will have a photo stop here.
Drive to Whale Cave. The cave is originally a basalt cliffed coast. After being continuously eroded by monsoon and seawater, it finally became an arch. From the side, the hollow part roughly has the shape of a whale.
Return to port.
Please Note:
For Seabourn Quests' call on 18 March 2025, due to recent weather conditions the visit to Whale Cave will be replaced with a visit to the Yuwengado Visitor Center.
