Discover the wonder of Yamaguchi Prefecture starting with a visit to the beautiful Motonosumi Inari Shrine in Nagato City. The most impressive part of the shrine is the 123 red Torii gates that stand in a row stretching over 325ft. It is said that while you walk through the tunnel formed by the shrine gates, make a wish for anything from finding a good match to success in business, and it may come true.
As you walk towards the ocean, you can catch a glimpse of the "Ryugu no Shiofuki" (Dragon Palace Geyser). This phenomenon occurs when waves break against a hole in the cliff and the compressed air shoots the seawater up into the air. Enjoy an impressive view of red shrine gates stretching out in a row with the clear blue ocean and lush greenery in the background.
Then, continue to Tsunoshima Observation Point where you can see the stunning views of the mile-long bridge which stretches to Tsunoshima Island. It has been often used as a filming location for movies due to its ideal location and sweeping views. Pause here for photos of the spectacular view and the symbol of Tsunoshima.
Please note:
Participants must negotiate 200 steps to enter the Motonosumi Shrine and/or uneven surfaces and is therefore not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Wear comfortable walking shoes. No guarantee is offered with regard to visibility or views on any particular day, as weather and atmospheric conditions vary and are beyond the tour operator’s control. Bring local currency, as many vendors do not accept credit cards or US dollars.
