This exclusive, privately arranged excursion offers a deep dive into Hiroshima's world-class craft spirits and the rich history of its beloved soul food, Okonomiyaki.
Head to the Sakurao Distillery — an establishment with a century-old passion for craft spirits. Located on the serene shores of the Seto Inland Sea with views of UNESCO World Heritage Site Miyajima, this distillery produces exceptional malt and grain whiskies, as well as premium gins.
Tour the facility to see the beautiful stills used to craft spirits from locally sourced Hiroshima ingredients, and observe the powerful distillation process in action. Your visit concludes with a curated tasting of fine whiskies and gins.
For lunch, enjoy a private dining experience at Micchan restaurant, credited with the birth of Hiroshima-style Okonomiyaki. This local specialty includes a teppanyaki savory pancake with tasty cabbage, meat, and seafood topping. Watch as the skilled chefs prepare the dishes on a large iron griddle (teppan).
Afterward, return to the ship at the pier.
Please note: Photography is not allowed in certain areas of the distillery. Some areas have a strong aroma from the distillation process. Weather and atmospheric conditions vary; no guarantee is offered with regard to visibility or views on any particular day. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Tour sequence may vary. Bring local currency, as most vendors do not accept US dollars or credit cards. Unfamiliar accents can be challenging; feel free to ask your guide to repeat or elaborate on information, and to speak more slowly so you can fully comprehend and converse.
