Transfer to the historic village of Lyckeby, nestled just north of Karlskrona on the mainland. From here, you'll follow the gentle flow of the Lyckeby River — a waterway stretching over 60 miles from the deep forests of Kosta in Småland, winding through lush coniferous woods in the north to open landscapes, royal oaks, beech forests, and fertile farmland in the south.
Lyckeby, dating back to the Middle Ages, became a thriving Danish trading town in the 15th century. A small castle was built at the river's mouth to ward off Swedish incursions. Explore the ruins from the trail.
As you hike alongside the peaceful riverbank, you'll peel back the layers of history that have defined this area. See the old Crown Mill ruins, the salmon steps, Viking-era burial fields, and the picturesque Augerum Church, consecrated in 1821.
The tour concludes with a relaxing ride back to the pier.
