Your day tour will start by visiting Siwalima Museum where here lies the exhibiting of cultural and historical interest related to region in Ambon. After a brief observation at the museum, guests can see a traditional Totobuang performance, which consists of gongs and drums, forming a cheerful, mesmerizing sound. This delightful music accompanies the Sahureka-Reka dance, and at the end, guests are invited to dance together with the performers - great fun!
Re-board your bus and drive to the village of Suli to see the unique way in which the local people process sago, the staple of the Ambonese diet. This starch is extracted from a local palm and processed into any different kinds of food. It can be used as flour, made into pancakes, or rolled into balls and cooked with coconut milk and eaten as a dessert.
From here your tour will continue to The World Peace Gong, set up in Maluku instead of Jakarta, to advertise the fact that the province is now safe and peaceful after being wracked by three years of sectarian violence from 1999 to 2002.
Across from the World Peace Gong is the city square, a popular gathering place for locals. People can be spotted here jogging or just enjoying a day out with their families, from here you will see Victoria fort, an old fort contributing to the founding of the City of Ambon, was erected by the Portuguese in 1575, and it was taken over by the Dutch in 1602. a on the other side of the square is the statue of the famous soldier and National Hero Thomas Matulessy, also known as Pattimura.
Back at the harbor, shop for souvenirs before rejoining the ship.
