Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately one hour drive to the Hwansang Forest. One of four major areas of Gotjawal, this natural, green primeval forest in Jeju Island was formed on top of a rock.
Upon arrival, take a guided and narrated walking tour through the forest, and listen to stories about the local lifestyle and people. In addition, learn about Gotjawal's diverse and abundant species of fauna and flora, which cohabitate on this prized area of unusual geography left behind by lava. Since it remains cool in the summer and warm in the winter, Gotjawal is the only place in the world where northern distributional limit plants and southern distribution limit plants can coexist.
Then, head to Damyang, a foot bath venue located at Gotjawal Forest. Upon arrival, relax with a cup of hanbang (Oriental herb) tea, and enjoy an incredibly soothing and therapeutic foot bath. When properly administered, a foot bath can help stimulate the muscles, improve circulation, less stiffness and tension, and eliminate pain; a welcome respite following your forest stroll.
Leaving the foot bath venue, re-board your coach and drive to Handam beach and Aewol cafe street along the Aewol coastal walk. Aewol Cafe Street is a little area in Handam Village which is just full of cafes and is a real hipster paradise. Koreans absolutely love their cafe culture and they do it so well - you have a myriad of fancy brand name establishments to quirky nooks to choose from in this district. It’s perfect for some downtime in between sightseeing or if you just want to while away an afternoon somewhere nice with a great view.
