Mousa Broch is the best-preserved Iron Age tower in the world. Little is known about its provenance, but it is believed to be more than 2,000 years old and is mentioned twice in Norse sagas. Step ashore on Mousa Island and the Expedition team will peel back millennia of Shetland history to unlock its secrets.
The island and its ruined structures are home to a myriad of seabirds. In fact, Mousa is a designated RSPB Nature Reserve with important breeding colonies of black guillemots and Arctic terns, as well as the largest known European colony of diminutive, nocturnal storm petrels.
Please note: Included Expeditions cannot be booked in advance. The ship's Expedition team will communicate finalized content and departure information. Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer; bring a warm hat, gloves and a scarf. Life jackets are provided and must be worn. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes.
