Experience Stewart Island as only a privileged few can, with a scenic helicopter flight. This incredible journey offers a diverse range of vistas, showcasing the island's breathtaking beauty, and an engaging in-flight commentary offers insights into the history and geography of this little piece of paradise.
During your flight, you'll soar over the Rakiura Track, one of New Zealand's Great Walks, and Mt Anglem, the island's highest peak. You'll also admire pristine white-sand beaches and secluded coves. Landing on a remote northern beach, allow yourself to be dazzled by the turquoise water.
Back in the air, enjoy views of Whenua Hou (Codfish Island) — a protected breeding area and home to Sirocco, an internationally famous kakapo (endemic parrot) and his highly endangered kakapo friends.
Marvel at a variety of landscapes, including the Ruggedy Range mountains stretching across the island, ancient wetlands, pristine forests, and massive sand dunes.
Touching down at Mason Bay (weather dependent), you can dip your toes in ten miles of gorgeous white sand and search for kiwi footprints (of the bird kind).
Finally, soar above the heart of Rakiura National Park, including Big Glory Bay — home to one of the world's southernmost aquaculture farms — and Ulva Island, before returning to the heli-base in Fern Gully.
Please note:
Guests weighing 286 lbs or more (fully clothed) pay an additional surcharge over the published fare directly to the tour operator just prior to the flight. Guests are required to provide their full name and weight details to the onboard team via the manifest list. This information will be obtained and shared with the Heli tour operator once all guests have boarded the ship at the beginning of the voyage. The pilot alone decides if weather conditions are suitable for flightseeing and/or landings. If the flight is canceled due to weather conditions, you will receive a full refund. The pilot decides where each guest sits based on weight and balance requirements; parties may be separated. Mobility devices of any kind cannot be brought onto the aircraft. Bags cannot be taken on the flight; a secure location is provided for storing personal items. iPads, iPad minis, tablets, drones, and selfie sticks or other extendable items are not permitted. For optimal photography and views, wear darker-colored clothing to reduce window reflections. Transfers to and from the helipad are unguided.
