Begin your tour with a drive south through fields of orange trees as your coach heads to Valencia. Upon arrival in this stunning city, where old and new meld seamlessly, enjoy a panoramic drive past the Arts and Science City, where you will have an opportunity to take photos of some of the astonishing modern architecture here. After a short drive to the Old Town, leave the coach for a leisurely stroll through the Central Market—one of the largest and oldest traditional produce markets in Europe. You’ll stop at the La Lonja de la Seda—once a currency exchange venue for wealthy merchants and still an absolutely beautiful and truly remarkable civil monument built in Valencian Gothic style. Corkscrew pillars support a ceiling so high it almost defies belief. Don’t miss an inside visit to this UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will also visit the cathedral with its various period artworks and valuable relics, including the Chalice of St Graal. Then you will have some time to taste the traditional beverage of Valencia—horchata. It is sweet and refreshing. After lunch, explore part of the Old Town whose streetscapes include the Generalitat and the Borgias palaces, and the medieval Gate of Serrans.
