Explore three distinct areas of Copenhagen, featuring old, new, and futuristic architecture, with a glimpse of many city landmarks.
Drive through the inner city of Copenhagen, called Frederiksstaden, passing several historical and ornate buildings such as the old Stock Exchange, dating back to 1621. During your orientation drive, pass Christiansborg Palace, home to the Danish government and pause at Holmen for a photo stop of the city of Copenhagen.
Continue through Christianshavn, an idyllic area of Copenhagen with a vibrant atmosphere and a canal bisecting the neighborhood.
Next, head towards the beach and catch a glimpse of the ultra-modern power plant Copenhill, with an artificial ski slope on the roof.
The beach at Amager is where locals congregate on hot summer days. Pass the National Aquarium, built by the architect trio 3xN, a masterpiece forming a tornado. Continue along the ocean and see the impressive Oeresundsbro, the bridge that connects Denmark to Sweden.
Stop at Dragør fishing village, once an international marketplace for the Hanseatic merchants who came to buy herring. Dragør boasts many well-preserved historical buildings, thanks to its extensive preservation efforts. The old part of town is a cozy, picturesque maze of alleys with yellow painted houses, red tile roofs and cobblestone streets lined with colorful hollyhocks.
Enjoy a guided stroll through the narrow streets before you make the most of some free time to explore on your own.
Continue to Ørestad City, an area with some of the city's best-known new architecture. The most distinctive residential buildings in the area are the VM Houses and Mountain Dwellings by Bjarke Ingels and Julien De Smedt.
Cross the bridge connecting the inner city with the island of Amager and pass City Hall and the famous Tivoli Gardens. See the King's Garden and pass quaint Rosenborg Castle — a former summer residence of King Christian IV.
Take photos of the Little Mermaid in the harbor before returning to the pier.
