Discover Trondheim aboard the vintage carriage of the world's northernmost tram and enjoy the panorama from Kristiansten Fortress.
Since 1924, the Gråkallbanen line has traversed an 8.8 km narrow gauge track, winding from the heart of the city to its suburban outskirts of Norway's third largest city. The way uphill rides through residential enclaves, parks, charming wooden homes and beautiful gardens. Gaze upon the cityscape below, where the River Nid winds gracefully through its center.
Upon reaching Lian, change to a bus for a brief photo stop at Sverresli viewpoint. Here, capture the postcard-worthy vista spanning the city, Nid River, Nidaros Cathedral, and the distant Monk Island.
Journey onward to Kristiansten Fortress, a storied bastion erected in 1685 to safeguard against Swedish incursions. Delve into its rich history, from its role in World War II resistance movements to its subsequent transformation into a fire watchtower. Perched on its hillside location, gain a new perspective on Trondheim's picturesque allure.
Please note: It is recommended to dress in layered clothing and wear comfortable shoes. This tour covers up to 300 meters of walking on a dirt path with a gradual, but consistent incline, and 2 large steps into the tram. Visibility of sights may be affected in adverse weather conditions. Do not leave personal items behind on the motor coaches or streetcar. There is no narration during the streetcar ride. There may be a short wait to board the tram.
