Day 1:
Laem Chabang (Bangkok) – Luang Prabang (D)
Disembark the ship at 06:00AM and transfer to the airport for your flight to Luang Prabang. Upon arrival meet your guide and transfer to the Avani Hotel (or similar) for check in. Dinner at the hotel’s restaurant followed by a visit to the Night Market. Enjoy a leisure stroll along the main street before retuning back to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 2:
Luang Prabang (B/L/D)
Early risers can watch the fascinating Alms Giving Ceremony, a daily ritual when hundreds of saffron-clad monks walk single-file through Luang Prabang at sunrise to collect their food offerings.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before your full-day tour, beginning at Wat Mai Suwannaphumaham or simply Wat Mai ("New Temple"), the city’s largest Buddhist temple. Then explore the National Museum, Laos’ former royal palace which was built in 1904 during the French colonial era. At the Traditional Arts and Ethology Center, you learn about these Lao Hill Tribes while watching artisans practice their time-honored crafts. Visit Wat Visoun, Luang Prabang’s oldest Buddhist temple noted for its 113-foot-high Stupa of Great Lotus; as well as Wat Xieng Thong, a wonderfully ornate temple where Laotian kings were once crowned, before lunch at a local restaurant.
Head out into the serene countryside and visit the Xang Hai Village, also known as the Whisky Village. Here you will see how traditional distillation methods are used to produce strong white whisky ("Lao Lao"). A short drive to one of the nearby weaving villages, Xang Khong. This small village is specialized in handwoven silk and traditional Saa paper. On your way back to the city center, stop at Wat Pha Baht Tai to watch the sunset over the Mekong River. Return to the hotel to freshen up before dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 3:
Luang Prabang – Vientiane (B/L/D)
After breakfast, make the most of some free time to enjoy the hotel before you make your way to Vientiane.
Upon arrival, head to Settha Palace Hotel (or similar) to check in and enjoy lunch before your guided city tour. First stop: Patuxay Monument (Patuxai), a massive arch monument honoring Laotian soldiers lost during World War II and the country’s War of independence from France in 1949. Known as Vientiane’s Arc de Triumph, Patuxai offers panoramic city views from its top-floor platform. Get a peek at the gold leaf-covered Wat That Luang, the "Great Stupa" — believed to contain the Buddha’s breastbone — and a photo stop at the Chao Anouvong Park along the Khong River. Tonight’s dinner at the upscale Khualao restaurant, enjoying fine Lao cuisine accompanied by a traditional dance performance.
Day 4:
Vientiane – Phnom Penh (B/L/D)
Begin your day with breakfast and a visit to Wat Si Saket, a temple with thousands of miniature Buddha statues, and the former royal temple of Ho Phakeo. Proceed to the airport for your flight to Phnom Penh.
Upon arrival, lunch will be served at the Dara Airport Hotel. This afternoon, you will visit the Royal Palace built by King Norodom in 1866. It is located on the site of the Old Town. You will also see the Silver Pagoda, located within the same walled grounds. The Silver Pagoda is so named because of its floor, which is made up of 5,000 silver tiles. The treasures here include a solid gold encrusted Buddha weighing 200 pounds, and a small 17th-century emerald and baccarat crystal Buddha.
Check in at the Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel (or similar). Spend some time relaxing and freshening up before dinner at the hotel’s restaurant.
Day 5
Phnom Penh – Singapore (B)
Enjoy breakfast before transferring to the airport for your flight to Singapore. Upon arrival, head to the pier and re-board your Seabourn ship.
Please note:
The Royal Palace of Cambodia can be closed to the public at any time, a visit to Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum or Killing Field of Chung Ek will be substituted.
