Auckland's inner-city nighttime kayak paddle is no adrenaline pursuit — it is a contemplative, intimate encounter with a great harbor city at its most beautiful hour. The pace is gentle, the guides are wonderfully knowledgeable, and the views are simply unforgettable.
As the sun dips beneath the horizon, the beautiful Waitemata Harbour and Auckland's skyline begin to shimmer. This is when you'll slip away from the ship for one of the most quietly magical ways to experience the celebrated City of Sails — from the water, after dark, under your own power.
After a private transfer to Westhaven Marina, your expert guide will have you on the water in minutes. From here, paddle your kayak through the glassy calm of St Mary's Bay as the city comes alive with light around you. The Sky Tower glows against the darkening sky, the Harbour Bridge arches magnificently overhead, and the impressive superyacht fleet of Westhaven is moored close alongside.
Please note: Previous kayaking experience not required. Evenings on the water can be cool; bring a warm jacket. Wear closed-toe shoes or sandals with a heel strap (mandatory). Tour operates rain or shine, but may be canceled by the operator in the event of extreme weather or unsuitable conditions. Not advisable for guests with a back or shoulder condition or with mobility limitations. Participants must be able to sit and paddle continuously for up to 45 minutes without a break. Tour requires kayaking approximately 2½ miles (4km). Tour requires minimal walking. Maximum weight limit is 264lbs (120kg).
