A nature walk is your opportunity to discover the rich endemic flora of Corsica, sculpted by the wind. Birds and butterflies frequent this part of the island and reproduce on the nearby Lavezzi Islands. Depending on the season, you might see some Asteriscus maritimus, thyme, juniper and some endemic orchids.
Starting from the port of Bonifacio, proceed on foot along the waterfront and up Monte Rostello. You'll reach the St Roch Chapel and continue along the deeply incised limestone cliffs southeast of Bonifacio. En route to the wide headland of Capo Pertusato, you will pass the Semaphore naval observation tower, which regulates the heavy shipping traffic of the straits. Incredible views are everywhere, embracing Sardinia, the Lavezzi and Cavallo Islands, and the citadel of Bonifacio perched on the cliffs.
Turn back when you reach the lighthouse -- the southernmost point of Corsica.
Please note: Tour requires a strenuous two-mile walk over uneven, gravel, dirt paths with inclines and steps. Participants must be in good physical condition, able to walk uphill for extended periods. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable/reef-safe sunscreen. Bring bottled water. Bring a backpack to stow any layers you shed.
