Livadi, Nisos Serifos, Greece

Soak in the natural beauty and laidback charm of Serifos. The island’s main center, Hora, is a quintessential Cycladic town with whitewashed houses cascading down the hillside. Ride a bus or follow the footpath up from Livadi (where your Seabourn ship tenders) and wander its narrow cobblestone streets, stopping to sip coffee in a pretty square or watch local artisans produce handmade pottery at the Kerameio Ceramic Studio. Tour the fortress-like Taxiarches Monastery, then taste organic wines in the winery next door. Those looking for a workout can climb the herb-lined path above Hora; the reward is breathtaking panorama across the Aegean Sea and town below. Serifos’ bauxite mines date from antiquity, and the industry boomed here during the 1880s; ruins from the old mines are located near the tiny village of Megalo Livadi along the southwestern coast. Islanders take great pride in their numerous beaches (official count: 72), and you can spend a perfectly lovely day here just hopping from one pristine stretch of sand to the next.
