Château Kirwan is an infinitely charming estate — a late 18th-century château and Médoc region winery built by a prosperous Irish businessman. He combined two adjoining vineyards in the village of Cantenac and gave his name to the new entity. Kirwan did much to enhance the wine's reputation, and the book Thomas Jefferson on Wine tells us that the third American president praised the wine highly during a trip to Bordeaux in 1787.
The Schÿler family purchased Kirwan in 1926, investing heavily in new infrastructure and spaces. In 2007, Sophie, Nathalie and Yann Schÿler's collective expertise was complemented by the appointment of a new managing director — oenologist Philippe Delfaut. In 2016, a new vat room, cellar and hospitality room opened, and the facility and cellars you will tour and appreciate today were born.
Afterward, access the Panoramic reception room to dine like the French with exquisite, fresh local food complemented by beautiful wines.
Please note: Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, cobblestones, and many steps. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair.
