The beautiful old port city of Gdansk is known as the place where World War II began. You'll walk through the Old Town to see its architectural highlights, including the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque Town Hall. Admire Neptune's Fountain and the waterfront canal. Visit St Mary's Basilica to see its chapels, elaborate altarpiece, stone floor with ancient tombstones and its 15th-century astronomical clock.
You'll have around 1½ hours of free time to shop for arts and crafts souvenirs as well as amber jewelry and to purchase lunch (at your own expense).
Step inside the modern World War II Museum, opened in 2017. The fascinating permanent exhibition is split into three parts: Road to War, The Horror of War and The Long Shadow of War. Various aspects of wartime are covered in 18 thematic sections, with numerous films, photographs and excellent translations. An outstanding collection of artifacts bring to life the personal tragedies of World War II.
Please note: Lunch is not included; you will have around 1½ hours of free time to purchase lunch (at your own expense). Participants must walk approximately 10 minutes from the parking area to the Old Town of Gdansk. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Use of an audio headset (included) will enhance your tour experience.
