On the southern edge of the Gulf of Naples lies the island of Capri, often called the Island of Dreams. When you see its impressive cliffs and brightly colored villas, you will understand Capri’s universal appeal. A 20-minute boat ride on the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Naples brings you to Marina Grande, the Old Port that is lined with colorful fishermen’s houses and is a favorite with European visitors. Board a local minibus for the 20-minute transfer to the town of Anacapri via the winding road that climbs through vine-covered slopes of terraced gardens and past stunning villas. You’ll visit the Villa San Michele —the beautiful home of Swedish physician and author Axel Munte—his villa is located on the spot where the estate of Emperor Tiberius once stood and features an interesting collection of antiques. Next, your drive continues to Capri town, where you will have two hours of free time to explore at your own pace. Stroll in the main square—La Piazzetta—the bustling epicenter of Capri’s commercial activity, or take in the old buildings and sidewalk cafés resting in the shadow of the cathedral and campanile (bell tower). You will have time to purchase lunch (at your own expense) before you re-join your minibus and head back to Marina Grande, where the hydrofoil waits for the return to Sorrento.
Please note:
Expect crowding in Capri Town. Guests who suffer from motion sickness should consider this before booking and/or take appropriate medication.
