This excursion is designed for TWO guests, staying in one room. Each guest must book their own ticket.
Day 1 (L/D) Laem Chabang - Bangkok
Depart the pier for the 2½-hour drive to Bangkok.
Upon arrival in the City of Angels, you'll visit the Grand Palace. Since 1782, the Palace has been the focal point for the people of Thailand. Exploring the grounds, you will marvel at the extensive murals, gilded spires and fantastic architectural designs of the buildings. The sacred image of the Buddha sits high atop a golden throne in the Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha). Carved in the 15th century from a single piece of jade, the Buddha guards the sovereignty of the Kingdom and the religious beliefs of the people.
Board a tuk-tuk — a three-wheeler motorized vehicle — for a ride to a local restaurant for lunch.
This afternoon, explore Wat Po, the Temple of the Reclining Buddha. This is one of the oldest and largest temples in Bangkok.
A private boat cruise on the Chao Phraya River is your chance to observe local residents living and working along the waterway. Don't miss the view of the spectacular Wat Arun — the Temple of Dawn — one of Bangkok's most recognized landmarks.
Hop off the boat at the hotel pier to check in and freshen up before dinner. Enjoy a traditional Thai dinner at the hotel accompanied by a classical Thai dance performance.
Hotel: Shangri-La Bangkok (or similar)
Day 2 (B/L) Bangkok - Laem Chabang
After breakfast at the hotel, board your motorcoach for a scenic 90-minute drive to visit two rural markets. The first is the market at Mae Klong. From early morning until late in the evening, this market springs to life, selling a variety of fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, seafood and snacks. A unique and rather exciting selling point for this market is the fact that a train runs right through it eight times a day, every day of the week.
Continue to Damnernsaduak and enjoy a fascinating boat ride providing an interesting glimpse into local daily life, orchards, traditional teak houses, and floating hyacinth markets.
Disembark at the floating market and spend some free time strolling along the canals. On the water, flat boats jockey for position, expertly paddled by ladies ready to stop and strike a bargain at a moment's notice.
Enjoy lunch at the hotel before reboarding the coach for a return 2½-hour journey to the pier.
