Embark on a captivating journey to the picturesque Osaek Valley in Seoraksan National Park -- a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Renowned for its vibrant fall foliage, this scenic haven boasts captivating rock formations and a fascinating history.
Your adventure begins with a leisurely two-mile walk along a trail linking the Seongguksa Temple, Seonnyeotang Pothole, and the Yongso Falls Information Center. This accessible one-hour route, complete with wooden decks, offers an enchanting journey through rising rocks and lush surroundings. The Osaek Mineral Spring welcomes you at the entrance, delivering water with a distinctive flavor owing to natural carbonation and high iron content.
Marvel at the extraordinary rock formations along the way, including some of Namseorak's iconic landmarks.
Visit the vast Sokcho Tourist Fish Market, whose 450 stores include fish stalls in the basement and two above-ground levels selling food, clothing, snacks and local delicacies. Don't miss trying some dak-gangjeong (sweet and sour chicken) -- a small but delicious bite.
Please note:
Wear comfortable walking shoes. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable/reef-safe sunscreen. Bring bottled water.
