The small fishing village of Skagen is Denmark's northernmost town and traces its origins back to the 13th century.
Start your walking tour from the bustling harbor, where bright-red wooden warehouses huddle on the waterfront and traditional wooden fishing boats bob in the bay.
On foot, you'll follow the narrow alleyways of the Old Town, lined with the characteristic wooden houses painted in "Skagen yellow with white fences and neat gardens.
Charming wooden houses built by old fishmongers now house the many seafood cafés and bistros of the Old Port. Taking a seat in the sun with a refreshing beer is a favorite pastime in this popular waterfront area.
On your walk, watch for Anna and Michael Ancher's House and the famous Brøndums Hotel.
Step inside the Skagen Museum, which pays homage to the world-famous Skagen Painters — the many artists working in Skagen between 1870 and 1930. Marvel at their paintings, drawings, sculptures and handicrafts. Don't miss the Brøndum Dining Room, with paintings and portraits in the paneling that was transferred here from Brøndums Hotel in 1946.
Continue your walk through this lovely town, ending back at the pier.
Please note: Tour is conducted entirely on foot and requires around 2½ hours of walking. Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, cobblestones, inclines, and steps.
