You will be transferred from the wharf to where you will step into an old English lifeboat, built in 1953. As you head out to the Sugar Loaf Islands marine sanctuary offshore, named by Captain Cook, watch for bird life and fur seals. Your skipper will point out Paritutu Rock along the coast and tell you about some of the local history of Taranaki Province.
Return to town with a view of the Wind Wand sculpture – an icon of New Plymouth designed by avant-garde 20th-century artist Len Lye.
On a clear day, you can't miss the stunning, in-your-face view of gorgeous Mt. Taranaki – the mountain that starred as Mt. Fuji in the filming of The Last Samurai.
Please note:
Bring a warm jacket as it can be cool on the water.
