Spend an unforgettable evening in the convivial, historic atmosphere of Château du Tertre, within the famed Margaux appellation. This beautiful estate belonged to the Seigneurie of Arsac in the 12th century and, in the mid-18th century, to Irishman Pierre Mitchell — the first bottle manufacturer in the Bordeaux area. The owner of neighboring Château Giscours purchased the estate in 1997 and painstakingly restored the house, cellars and vineyards. It is now owned by the Helfrich family.
Elegance and refinement meld in the park-like grounds designed by Jacques Wirtz, the man behind the Jardins du Carrousel in Paris and the Jubilee Park in London.
This evening, you will arrive via a cobblestone driveway that bisects a vineyard of carefully tended grapes. The road leads to the handsome, yellow-stone château built in the 18th century.
Enjoy a welcome beverage in the nicely appointed tasting room, or in the Orangerie beside the elegant swimming pool.
Visit the cellar to learn a little about the technical aspects of aging fine wines.
Dinner is a memorable, elegant, four-course affair accompanied by several of the château's excellent wines. You will return to the ship afterward.
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes. Terrain includes steps leading to the cellar. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. You are welcome to bring any on-tour alcohol purchases (beer, wine, spirits) back to the ship with you to enjoy on board; there is no corkage fee.
