The tip of Forillon was declared a Canadian National Park in order to preserve the wild beauty of its coastline. It reveals various geological formations and phenomena believed to be up to 450 million years old. Its majestic landscapes cover a 94-square-mile area, where the land joins the sea and pebble beaches, dizzying cliffs, small coves, rocky capes and fine sand beaches are sculpted into the landscape. The presence of ten different rock formations, colonies of seabirds and enigmatic artic-alpine plants lend this park its unique character.
The walking trail is called Une Tournée dans les Parages (A Walk Around the Area) and starts near the fishing harbor, at the Grande-Grave Heritage Site. The Hyman & Sons store, the warehouse and the Blanchette House reveal the past and attest to the way of life of fishing families. Wander back through fields and woods to a number of old houses and barns. Outdoor exhibits along the way recount the history of Grande-Grave. Bracing sea air and Forillon's magnificent panoramas make the walk all the more pleasant.
Please note: Transportation is shared with guests participating in Hiking in Forillon National Park. This is a walking tour in the woods with groomed trail. Participants must be able to walk at steady pace. Wear sturdy walking shoes.
