Your adventure begins with a scenic journey aboard an air-conditioned motorcoach, winding through lush mountain roads to the cooler elevations of the village of Minca. Upon arrival, you'll transfer to a 4x4 vehicle for the final 20-minute ascent to Hacienda Victoria.
Founded by a British couple during Queen Victoria's reign, the aptly named Hacienda Victoria is now owned and operated by a German family. It is the only major coffee farm and processing facility in Colombia's coastal mountains. During a guided tour of the farm, learn how the original machinery — built in England, shipped across the Atlantic, and transported by mule — is still used today. A farm worker will explain the full coffee production process, including cultivation and hand-harvesting of high-quality beans, many of which are organic.
Return to Minca for a short guided walk through this charming village. Known for its refreshing climate, Minca has long served as a summer retreat for Santa Marta's élite and is now a renowned destination for international birdwatchers.
Relax on the terrace of a small hotel and savor a three-course Colombian lunch. Hummingbirds flutter around nearby feeders in this lovely mountain landscape.
Leave this tranquil setting and begin your return journey down the mountain, back to the pier.
Please note: Weather and atmospheric conditions vary; no guarantee is offered with regard to visibility or views on any particular day. Dress in layers with a waterproof outer layer.
